IBM Integrates Liebert SiteScan into Active Energy Manager Software

Columbus, Ohio [April 30, 2008] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, announced today that IBM is planning to interface with Emerson Network Power's Liebert SiteScan® software as part of an enhanced infrastructure management solution that allows data center managers to make more informed decisions about the utilization and performance of their IT resources.

IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager (AEM) software tracks, through various IBM systems, energy consumption in data centers and helps customers to monitor power usage and make adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Liebert SiteScan software from Emerson Network Power captures energy consumption from data center infrastructure equipment, and provides analysis and reporting for enhanced availability and efficiency.

IBM AEM integration with Liebert SiteScan enables IT administrators to be alerted about issues with facilities equipment, such as overheating, low battery power on uninterruptible power supply units or other conditions that may keep IT equipment in a data center from running properly. Liebert SiteScan uses a web-based server to gather information, change operating parameters, run reports and perform similar functions on various types of critical equipment.

"Proactive data center infrastructure management is just as critical as the technologies that are being monitored," said Charles O'Donnell, vice president of Monitoring and Professional Services, Emerson Network Power. "When it comes to maximizing the business value that a reliable and efficient data center can provide, real-time and ongoing visibility into the performance and health of the IT equipment and its support system becomes a competitive advantage. Organizations can't improve what they don't measure. Integration of Liebert SiteScan with Active Energy Manager simplifies this management and opens the door to additional user benefits via combined solutions from Emerson Network Power and IBM."

The two organizations have worked together in the past as Liebert cooling solutions are embedded in select IBM systems. Also, Emerson Network Power announced last May that it was collaborating with IBM to provide more energy efficient solutions to its customers' toughest energy problems.
