A couple years ago, Fox Architects out of St. Louis, Missouri, in the US was asked to help Emerson design a data center to be built on their corporate campus.

We were excited about the opportunity, and felt building a data center with data center experts would have obvious advantages. We’d have the opportunity to build a showcase facility, incorporating best practices.

At the same time, we would be working to satisfy our client’s business needs. Emerson was consolidating from about 100 data centers around the world to four, and this was to be the crown jewel.

As it is for many of our clients, a scalable design was necessary to keep up with business demands. Efficiency was important for the same reason it’s important to Emerson Network Power’s clients – saving energy saves money, and that makes business sense.

The data center project would be a chance for Emerson to practice the efficiency, scalability and reliability strategies its Network Power division preaches, while trying to meet similar business objectives that its clients strive for.

It’s not surprising that this project has piqued the interest of many – including many consulting specifying engineers.

To efficiently answer the many questions that have been coming into Emerson Network Power’s Liebert Products and Services and ASCO Power Switching and Controls businesses, we decided to host an hour-long Webcast with CSE magazine.
