Pat Sly is business leader for Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions (formerly the Tools and Storage segment) which had sales of US $1.8 billion in 2011. He also oversees the Emerson Charitable Trust and the company’s community giving activities, a position he was appointed to in 2012. In addition, he is an advisory director to Emerson's board of directors.
Sly began his career at Emerson in 1980 as national sales manager for power tools and subsequently held several positions of increasing responsibility within the Emerson Tool business, including executive vice president for sales and marketing, and president. He became president of Ridge Tool in 1993 and assumed additional duties as Emerson group vice president in 1998 and was promoted to senior vice president in 1999. He was promoted to executive vice president in 2000.
Sly currently serves on the Saint Louis University Board of Trustees and the boards of directors for Boys Hope Girls Hope and the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Nine Network of Public Media (PBS) and has been elected to the board of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA).
Sly received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Benedictine College (Kansas) and an MBA from Saint Louis University.
