Business Continuity A Hot Topic at Emerson Critical Power & Cooling Conference

IT & Facility Executives Learn to Protect Business-Critical Operations at Emerson Network Power’s AdaptiveXchange 2006™

Columbus, OH, Sept. 7, 2006 – As extreme weather and natural disasters increase the likelihood of power outages around the world, business continuity has become a major issue. Representatives of more than 2,000 companies will discuss how they are keeping the lights on and customer orders fulfilled at AdaptiveXchange 2006™, sponsored by Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), October 18th-19th at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

"Keeping businesses up and running as demand for energy reaches record highs has become an important issue in our economy," said Bob Bauer, group vice president, Emerson. "AdaptiveXchange is designed to give attendees new ideas and insights that will help them anticipate potential network downtime and enhance their business continuity plans."

AdaptiveXchange, formerly called Incredible Universe, attracted more than 2,000 IT, facility and data center managers to Columbus in 2004. This year’s event features: expanded participation from technology manufacturers Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sun; 120,000 square feet of exhibit space showcasing simulated data centers, computer rooms, telecommunications and remote network environments; and 48 technical sessions.

The event’s keynote presentations will be made by Bauer and Dell Chief Technology Officer Kevin Kettler.

Bauer will share the results of Emerson Network Power’s research on the state of today’s data center and follow the driving trends of convergence, rising power and heat densities, and skyrocketing energy costs into the future. AdaptiveXchange will provide a glimpse into how the most innovative and adaptive data centers in the world are advancing business continuity.

Kettler will discuss the future of the data center, including the evolution of associated power and thermals, standardization, and scaling out instead of scaling up. With more than 21 years of experience in the personal computer industry, Kettler is currently responsible for the design, development, and performance analysis of core architectures for the Dell product portfolio.

AdaptiveXchange will also feature an industry panel on heat density that will include representatives from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), as well as chip, server and cooling system manufacturers.
