ST. LOUIS, June 19, 2007 – CIO magazine has selected Emerson (NYSE: EMR) as a recipient of its 2007 CIO 100 award. The 20th annual award program recognizes 100 organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
According to Abbie Lundberg, editor in chief of CIO magazine, “The CIO 100 award recipients serve as industry role models for business and IT excellence. This year’s winners demonstrate extraordinary results in a variety of important areas, including business transformation, collaboration, customer innovation and top line contributions.”
CIO magazine recognized Emerson for its development and execution of an Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software implementation approach that allows cost-effective integration of accounting, finance, manufacturing and inventory management across Emerson divisions globally. Called “Oracle-in-a-Box,” the approach requires no IT support at the division level, and reduces implementation costs, deployment time and support costs by about 70 percent over a traditional ERP implementation.
“It’s a privilege to be recognized by a prestigious publication like CIO magazine and to be included in the ranks of so many world-class companies,” said Stephen C. Hassell, vice president and chief information officer of Emerson. “Our team worked hard to develop this new approach, and we’re proud to have been honored for their outstanding work.”
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative practices in both business and IT. Next, teams of CIO magazine editors and writers reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, the teams met for a day-long meeting to debate the merits of each nominee and vote on the final 100.
Complete coverage of the 2007 CIO 100 awards will be in the August 15 issue of
CIO magazine and available online at
www.cio.com on August 15.
