ELYRIA, OHIO – August 2008 – RIDGID hosted its first annual “RIDGID Roundup” in June at RIDGID headquarters in Elyria, Ohio. The purpose of the event was to celebrate those who have contributed to the RIDGID online forum. In a fun-filled event, forum members learned about the latest innovations from RIDGID, met other forum members and had an opportunity to engage with RIDGID executive management.
On the first day, forum members attended product sessions to learn about product developments in the RIDGID product groups that include inspection, locating, drain cleaning, pressing and tubing tools, and pipe tools. On the same day, the group participated in the RIDGID Roundup Games, an Olympic-style competition in which players used RIDGID products in a competitive fashion. In the “Faster Blaster” game, participants were timed at cutting through a wood block with a RIDGID sectional drain cleaning machine. Other games included “Lord of the Toilet Rings,” “Thread Master,” “Blockage Buster,” “Hide and Go SeekTech,” “Lag Bolt Hero,” “Amazing Copper Maze,” “SeeSnake Sewer Search,” and “microEXPLORER Hunt.”
After a plant tour, open discussions and a luncheon, a presentation was held on the last day of the event to award the winner of the “How I Build My Reputation With RIDGID Tools” video contest. The winner was determined through TeamRIDGID member voting and was judged on persuasiveness, creativity and entertainment value, and received $2,500 in RIDGID tools of his choice.
The “RIDGID Roundup” event attracted 32 participants who came from all over the country and paid for their own hotel and travel arrangements. During the evenings participants were treated to social events at Dave & Buster’s and a barbeque, go-carting and miniature golf event at a local family fun park.
“The RIDGID Roundup event was a great opportunity for us to show our appreciation to the members who are passionate about RIDGID tools,” said Josh Sooy, eMarketing manager, RIDGID.
Director of marketing communications, Steve Dyer, said, “We felt it was important to show our most loyal customers how much we appreciate their feedback and loyalty to the RIDGID brand. In a time when many manufacturers are cutting back expenditures, RIDGID made it a priority to reach out to its customers in a way that would be both an educational and fun experience for all.” He added, “The event far exceeded our expectations…plans are underway for the next event.”
