Todd Finders Recognized for Role in Success of LEED Gold-Certified St. Louis Data Center
ST. LOUIS, MO (February 3, 2011) – Todd Finders, director of global data center services for Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has been named the 2011 Facility Executive of the Year by Today’s Facility Manager magazine. Finders was selected in recognition of his extensive contributions to the planning, construction, and ongoing operations of the LEED Gold-certified Emerson Global Data Center on the company’s St. Louis headquarters campus.
The award recognizes the outstanding achievements of an individual involved in a recent construction or renovation project. This year marks the first time an executive from a predominantly IT-focused background has received the honor. Finders appears on the cover of the January 2011 edition of Today’s Facility Manager, alongside an extensive feature article detailing his experience and accomplishments with the St. Louis data center project. Judges lauded the project’s unique energy-saving attributes, as well as the construction team’s ability to achieve energy-efficient operation without compromising the availability of critical systems or capacity for long-term growth. A number of technologies from Emerson Network Power, a global business of Emerson, are helping to deliver the energy-efficiency gains at the data center.
“Coming from an IT background, I am both honored and humbled to be named Facility Executive of the Year by Today’s Facility Manager,” Finders said. “This award is a testament to the tremendous efforts of a great team. The unique collaboration between our IT and facility management teams, as well as Emerson Network Power, have created a global facility with unique innovations that support efficiency and growth without compromising the availability and integrity of critical IT systems. I truly believe this Emerson facility and the process from which it was created will become a model for data center planning and design.”
The 35,000-square-foot facility supports Emerson’s worldwide manufacturing and engineering operations and represents the company’s long-term initiative to consolidate operations of more than 100 data centers worldwide into four global data centers. The data center is 31 percent more energy efficient than traditional data centers and is home to a 7,800-square-foot rooftop array of more than 550 solar panels. The facility’s unique energy-efficient design and sustainable building were among the factors that helped the facility earn LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council – a rare distinction for a data center.
