Blending or mixing tanks are often used in many industry applications, for example in the chemical industry. Both for mixing fluids and solids into fluids, often at ambient conditions but sometimes at elevated temperature to enhance dissolving. Usually, the blending or mixing tank is equipped with an agitator. Level measurement is needed to monitor and control additions and prevent overfill. Some of the challenges blending of various types of chemicals can present are presence of corrosive media, condensation, foam and risk of media build-up if contents are viscous or sticky. Reliable level measurement technology is key to have high level of quality control and reliable overfill prevention or underfill / run-dry prevention.

The Rosemount 3408 Non-Contacting Radar Level Transmitter is a versatile FMCW radar suitable for level measurement and overfill prevention in many industries, including chemical. Smart features save time and maximize efficiency for trouble-free operations, simplifying commissioning, operation and testing. Smart diagnostics help you proactively plan maintenance and optional Bluetooth® connectivity allows convenient configuration and maintenance. The Rosemount 2120 Level Switch provides easy to install, reliable level detection and control. 3
rdparty IEC61508 (SIL2) safety and hygienic certification with choice of outputs makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. It has no moving parts, needs no calibration and is virtually unaffected by process conditions. Adjustable switching delay prevents false switching in turbulent applications.
