The Municipal Theatre Association, most commonly recognized as the Muny, is the nation's oldest and largest outdoor theatre. Emerson pledged $500,000 for the Strengthening the Core Capital Campaign that was designed to build a new rehearsal building, catering kitchen, a restroom conversion, and a painter’s awning.

KETC is focused on enabling teachers to create linkages in arts & culture through educational technology in lesson plans. Emerson gave a gift of $100,000 in support of KETCs project to upgrade and automate the Master Control Room.

Emerson owned 100 acres of land, valued at $1,300,000, adjacent to the Fair Grounds in Orange County, VA. The property was donated to further reach the needs of the community.
Tower Grove Foundation, St. Louis, MO
The Tower Grove Foundation was created to ensure the ongoing preservation and enhancement of Tower Grove Park for public use and enjoyment in south St. Louis. Emerson supported the vision to restore the lily pond located in the heart of the park by pledging $200,000.

As science, math, and technology become key foundations for the future, an expansion of science labs for high school students from Ridge Tool for $200,000 in the Elyria City School District will continue their advanced programs.
Saint Louisans United to Attract KIPP, St. Louis, MO
KIPP Schools are charter, college-preparatory public schools located in under-resourced communities throughout the United States. A gift of $250,000 was donated to help establish teh first KIPP-run schools to serve students who live in the city of St. Louis.
Teach For America, St. Louis, MO
Teach For America strives to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders. In order to continue to foster the program within St. Louis, Emerson gave $300,000 to expand the presence of teachers, grow the alumni base, increase student impact, and grow and diversify funding.
University of Dayton, Dayton, OH
The University of Dayton is committed to lifelong intellectual, professional, and personal growth through learning in the arts, the humanities, the sciences, and the social sciences. Emerson pledged $1,000,000 for an Innovation Center as part of the School of Engineering through Emerson Climate Technologies. The center is a multi-disciplinary teaching and research facility which focuses on four distinct areas: Global Approach, Innovation, Technology, and Product Development.

Emerson gave $300,000 to the American Red Cross to increase their preparedness to respond to emergencies in the St. Louis area and to provide service to members of the armed forces and their immediate families.
Paraquad, St. Louis, MO
Paraquad is a St. Louis-founded organization where professional independent living services are provided to people with disabilities. Emerson donated $100,000 to be used to expand their Assistive Technology Program for clients and staff.

Local United Way campaigns in 84 communities across the country received a total of $3,300,000 from Emerson in 2008.

Emerson gave a combined $135,300 to help enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence through the safe environment of Boys & Girls Clubs in our communities.
Make-A-Wish Foundation, Nationally
Make-A- Wish Foundation enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. Emerson gave a combined $98,000 to make wishes come true.
