Edison Community College
To enhance community college offerings in west-central Ohio, Emerson, on behalf of its Emerson Climate Technologies business, contributed $1 million to Edison Community College in Piqua, OH. The donation was used to help construct a health science center and library/learning center.
KidSmart Celebrity Spelling Bee
Emerson was the title corporate sponsor of the annual KidSmart Celebrity Spelling Bee, which raised more than $150,000 for St. Louis-area children in need of school supplies. Our employee volunteers also helped KidSmart load the supplies into backpacks bound for area students.
HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
The United Way of Greater St. Louis
Local United Way campaigns in 84 communities across the country received a total of $3 million from Emerson in 2007. Emerson Chairman and CEO David Farr was this year’s campaign chairman for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, helping raise a record $68.8 million from businesses and individuals that will provide crucial funding for nearly 200 health and human service agencies in the metro area.
Exchange Club - Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse
On behalf of Emerson Industrial Automation and its Leroy-Somer division in Lexington, TN, Emerson provided $150,000 to help the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse expand its facilities, child-abuse prevention programs, and parenting support services that serve western Tennessee.
ARTS & CULTURE
Cuyahoga Valley Preservation and Scenic Railway Association
On behalf of several of its divisions with facilities in Ohio, including Ridge Tool, Liebert, Rosemount Analytical, and Emerson Valve Automation, Emerson donated $150,000 to the Cuyahoga Valley Preservation and Scenic Railway Association. Emerson’s funding will help support the operations of a scenic train that provides educational field trips and excursions through the historic Cuyahoga Valley National Park between Cleveland and Akron, OH.
The Magic House - St. Louis Children's Museum
The Magic House – St. Louis Children’s Museum, a popular St. Louis-area attraction, captivates the minds of children through unique, hands-on learning experiences. Emerson provided The Magic House with a $1 million grant to construct a new 30,000-square-foot facility to be named the Emerson Education Center. Upon completion in summer 2008, visitors will find a conservatory, outdoor play garden, and citizenship learning center among the center’s new classrooms and galleries.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation
Emerson donated $125,000 to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation to help construct a memorial to Dr. King on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The memorial will commemorate Dr. King’s contributions to racial equality and nonviolent social change and is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
City of Eden Prairie, MN
Through its Rosemount division, Emerson committed $100,000 over four years to help the city of Eden Prairie, MN, expand its community and fitness center. The facility provides a central place for residents of all ages to meet and gather, explore hobbies and interests, and enjoy fun and healthy activities.
YOUTH
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri
In 2007, Emerson awarded $1 million to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. The contribution will allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to move its youth-service and mentoring headquarters to a larger space and support additional programs.
Boys & Girls Club
Emerson also made donations totaling $76,000 to 21 local Boys & Girls Club chapters across the nation. These funds will enable each chapter to continue providing a safe and positive learning environment for children.
