Accurate Conductivity Measurement in High Purity Water

Conductivity measurement in green hydrogen production is challenging due to the measurement accuracy required in high purity water. The conductivity of the water supplied to the electrolysis stack must be carefully controlled to less than approximately 0.05 µS/cm to prevent damage to the stack. This high purity water is generated by passing DI water through a two-stage filter before it is collected in the oxygen separator tank. If the conductivity of the water being fed to the electrolysis stack is above the target threshold, it is routed to a recirculation filter for correction or blown-down. The Rosemount™ 400 Conductivity Sensor with 0.01 cell constant provides good accuracy in high purity water down to 0.01 µS/cm.
