Gas Detection in Refining

Reliable Combustible & Toxic Gas Leak Detection

Continuous combustible and toxic gas monitoring is critical within a refinery as many hazardous areas exist. Gas or vapor leaks from crude desalting, thermal cracking, coking, catalytic cracking or isomerization processes can start fires if an ignition source is found. Some processes produce wastewater streams (sour waters) that contain dissolved hydrogen sulfide and ammonia gases, in the form of ionic ammonium hydrosulfide, and can occur at lethal concentrations. The hydrogen generation process can create hazardous gas leaks. Monitoring the hydrogen sulfide content of the feedstock is essential to prevent harm to personnel or the environment. Rosemount™ gas detection products help to keep people and equipment at refineries safe by providing accurate and continuous gas leak monitoring.
