Used Cooking Oil (UCO) is a valuable feedstock in the production of biodiesel and other green fuels. UCOs can pose challenges in storage and handling due to dirt and water content, and may solidify at low temperatures.
The Rosemount Tank Monitoring system comprises measurement instrumentation, network components, and software for reliable inventory management when storing used cooking oil and other biofuel feedstock such as grease, tallow and FAME. The system connects a range of level, temperature and pressure transmitters to find the right solution for each tank and handles measurement challenges like varying density, dirt, and water vapor. An efficient network infrastructure using a single cable digital bus and/or wireless communication enables a low installation cost. Rosemount TankMaster is a powerful, easy-to-use Windows-based inventory management software package. Rosemount TankMaster collects real-time tank gauging data such as level, temperature, water interface level and pressure. It automatically calculates volume and mass for inventory and custody transfer for bulk liquid storage tanks. It also provides operator overview, configuration, setup and service for Rosemount tank gauging systems.

The Rosemount™ 5408 Non-Contacting Radar Level Transmitter uses enhanced technology and Human Centered Design to deliver accurate, reliable measurements on both liquid and solid materials. The Rosemount 5900C Radar Level Gauge provides ± 1mm (0.04 in.) instrument accuracy. It is normally combined with high precision multiple spot temperature sensors for net volume calculations. It is SIL 2 certified according to IEC 61508.

The Rosemount 2410 handles data communication between field devices and the control room, and is available in two versions for single or multiple tanks. Control room communication options include Modbus, IEC 62591 (
WirelessHART® protocol) and emulation of other vendors’ protocols. The Rosemount 2410 also feeds power to Rosemount field devices on the FISCO compliant intrinsically safe Tankbus.
