Iron pellets and manganese are examples of products usually stored in silos before being transferred or shipped. Knowing the amount (tonnage) of final product helps to determine the efficiency of the process. The material surface is likely to be uneven making it is very difficult for operators to closely monitor overall inventory levels across all silos and to know the onnage of available material for shipment. Some materials can still be very dusty as they are added to the silos.
