Special considerations must be made when designing tank gauges for pressurized applications. Firstly, the unit must withstand the pressure and meet the safety standards written around pressure vessels. Secondly, the gauge must be designed so that it can effectively cope with the challenges that high vapor pressure may cause in such tanks. Additionally, it should have a means to verify performance during operation. Since the tanks cannot be opened while in service and are expected to run for years in between maintenance stops, you need a solution you can trust.
The Rosemount Tank Gauging system for pressurized gas operations is SIL 2 and SIL 3 certified according to IEC 61508. It features a built-in ball valve and integrated pressure transmitters.
