Reliable measurement instrumentation for wet pet food finishing

Once a batch comes out of the cooker, wet and dry pet food products typically take different finishing and packaging paths. Wet pet food often goes to a canning or sealed try line where product is precisely filled into the cans. Next the cans are sterilized for over an hour at roughly 250ºF in a hydrostatic cooker to achieve commercial sterility. During sterilizing it is crucial to keep a close eye on steam consumption for energy analysis and to reach desired sustainability foals. Once sterilized the pet food cans and trays are rapidly cooled and dried to be ready for labeling and packaging.

Emerson's advanced measurement instrumentation can be used during sterilizing, drying, and packaging processes to detect product leaks before product is shipped and to monitor and control steam quality.
