During pharmaceutical manufacturing, nitrogen is used in a variety of areas and processes because it’s a dry, inert gas that doesn’t react with other elements. Nitrogen can be used in laboratories, blanketing, packaging and more. While nitrogen is a relatively safe gas, it has the potential to create the risk of oxygen depletion if the ambient oxygen content in the air falls below 20.9%. If oxygen levels are reduced, it can lead to health complications including asphyxiation. Another potential risk exists when piped nitrogen gas is used in labs or other manufacturing locations. A slow leak from piped nitrogen can gradually dilute the air reducing oxygen levels, creating a variety of health risks for workers. The Rosemount™ 928 Wireless Gas Monitor continuously monitors oxygen depletion throughout the pharmaceutical manufacturing process. Using a wireless gas monitor eliminates the need for expensive cable and cable infrastructure that comes with traditional wired fixed gas detectors.

WirelessHART® technology, and eliminates the need for expensive wiring. The Rosemount 928 Wireless Gas Monitor easily connects to the Rosemount 628 Universal Gas Sensor which consists of a tool-less-hot-swappable smart sensor module.

The Rosemount 628 Series of electrochemical toxic gas sensors provides high specificity, fast response and long life. All Rosemount 628 Sensors are compatible with the Rosemount 928 Wireless Gas Monitor. The electrochemical sensor cell incorporates industry-standard technology that is used in conventional wired gas detectors to bring consistent toxic gas sensing to challenging and remote locations. Gas sensor types include hydrogen sulfide (H

2).
