Nelson™ Heat Trace VH heating panels are suitable for installation on metallic tanks and vessels for freeze protection or process temperature maintenance up to 79 °C (175 °F). Any number of heating panels can be installed on a single tank and connected in parallel or series to minimize electrical distribution requirements. The panels are easily attached with suitable banding materials and must be mounted below the minimum fluid level on the vessel surface.

Features

  • Operating principle: The use of surface heating panels on metallic tanks and vessels provides larger amounts of heat in smaller areas than when heating cables are used. The labor to install heating panels is less than a comparable heating cable installation. The heating panels' high concentration of heat allows for significant heat-up capacity to be installed on the tank surface or for the heat to be focused on a smaller area when low fluid levels in the vessel require heat
  • For applications in which the fluid may drop below the level of the heating panel, a dual thermostat arrangement is recommended. One sensor is installed on the tank to provide temperature control while the second sensor is installed on the surface of the highest mounted heating panel acting as a hi-temperature cutout switch to protect the heater from abnormal conditions
  • Type VH Silicone Tank Heating Panels are constructed with high temperature resistance elements vulcanized between two thin layers of fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber and a stainless steel sheath which provides additional mechanical protection and a ground path for hazardous area installations
  • The unique panel construction provides a rugged, water and chemical resistant sheath with good flexibility down to -57 °C (-70 °F)
