The Importance of Business Sustainability

How Grind2Energy can help businesses achieve their sustainability goals

As the only full-circle, closed-loop food waste recycling system, Grind2Energy is the sustainable solution for food retailers and services.

According to The UN Global Compact – Accenture CEO Study on Sustainability, 2013 – over 93% of CEOs say that sustainability is critical to their company’s future business success.

Grind2Energy’s unique food waste recycling system is the epitome of sustainability. The system provides visibility into food loss with real-time data that can be used to optimize operations and manage avoidable food waste and recycles unavoidable food waste by recovering beneficial resources including water, renewable energy and nutrient-rich fertilizer that helps produce more food. Grind2Energy can help your company’s sustainability goals by reducing food waste and improving operational efficiency.

Published on the American Bar Association website for Business Law Today, authors E. Lynn Grayson and Gary P. Kjelleren published the article, “The Business Case for Environmental Sustainability,” that explains the benefits and importance of environmental sustainability in the business sector.  The authors write, “It appears a virtual certainty that environmental sustainability will increasingly move from voluntary to legally mandated initiatives, including sustainability reporting requirements. The critical inquiry for business is no longer if, but how and when to launch a meaningful environmental sustainability program. There is a growing business case for environmental sustainability. It is an added bonus that addressing these business challenges not only will enhance financial performance over time, but is simply the right thing to do as well.”

Sustainability can also be an important factor to the end consumer. For many consumers, finding a business that practices environmentally sustainable practices can influence their support and loyalty.

Grayson and Kjelleren write, “This year’s Nielsen Global Survey on Corporate Social Responsibility polled 30,000 consumers in 60 countries to understand how passionate consumers are about sustainable practices when it comes to purchase considerations; which consumer segments are most supportive of ecological or other socially responsible efforts; and, which social issues/causes are attracting the most concern. One key finding is that 55 percent of global online customers are willing to pay more for products and services provided by companies that are committed to positive social and environmental impact.”

Sustainability is increasingly important to business success. As regulations continue to tighten and public awareness drives business towards cleaner energy, environmental responsibility has become increasingly important to thriving business.  Let us show you how Grind2Energy can help with your company’s sustainability goals.
