VertoBagger 2.0 Combines Innovations from Multiple Emerson Businesses To Help Customers Reduce Waste, Energy Consumption and Downtime
ST. LOUIS (Sept. 1, 2015) – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and American Packaging & Plant Equipment (APPE) today announced plans to demonstrate a new ultrasonic Vertical Form, Fill, and Sealing (VFFS) system designed to help manufacturers in a wide range of industries to reduce product packaging waste and energy use while boosting efficiency and productivity.
The new VertoBagger 2.0 equipment will be unveiled at PACK EXPO, Sept. 28-30 in Las Vegas, at Emerson’s Booth C-2051.
VFFS systems are automated packaging systems that create and fill customized plastic packages with product. The systems are used widely for food packaging and a wide range of other consumer products. Ultrasonic-sealing VFFS solutions provide notable advantages over earlier heat-sealing systems, including better performance and reduced energy use.
VertoBagger 2.0 is the result of close collaboration between multiple Emerson businesses and APPE, with a focus on integrating advanced technologies from a variety of disciplines in a way that has never been done before. The resulting equipment offers a remarkable range of sealing applicatons, from sealing packages as small as 2.5 inches wide by 3 inches long, to 12 inches wide by 20 inches long, with a capacity of up to 180 bags per minute.
The VFFS machine reinforces Emerson’s position as a leading global provider of automation technologies, services and solutions, as well as its vision to combine and coordinate these solutions as a network to help customers and even entire industries operate faster, more efficiently and cost effectively.
“Emerson is a one-stop resource for core components of machinery like VFFS systems, and we see the full potential of these capabilities in the advances achieved in VertoBagger 2.0,” said Derek Thomas, Director and Brand Officer for Emerson Industrial Automation. “In close collaboration with APPE, we brought together experts from multiple Emerson businesses to drive innovation throughout the machine. When combined, these innovations will result in measurable improvements in performance for a wide range of packing applications.”
Advances built into the new VFFS system were designed by experts from:
“VertoBagger 2.0 is a substantial advancement from the VertoBagger machinery that we have offered for years,” said APPE Sales Manager Al Aman. “We’re moving from an intermittent-motion machine to one with continuous motion, ultrasonic sealing and an updated control panel, all of which will contribute to improved efficiency and safety for our customers. We’re excited to show this new platform at PACK EXPO, and we expect strong interest from customers across a range of industries.”
