With new investments spurred by rebounding prices and natural gas exports, Emerson and its customers are back in growth mode.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Emerson’s plans to put $25 million into facility renovations and hire 180 new workers in Shakopee and Chanhassen is the latest sign of renewed growth in the North American oil and chemical industries after weathering hurricanes and an unprecedented market downturn. Analysts say during the recovery, automation has played a key role in helping producers reduce their break-even costs by monitoring performance and maximizing the efficiency of their processes.
