How It Works​
Gas Applications​
The Rosemount 3410 gas ultrasonic flow meters are trusted worldwide for critical gas measurement. Common applications include onshore/offshore production, transmission pipelines, compressor stations, processing facilities, and city gates—as well as high-volume users like power generation, refining, and petrochemical industries.​
Liquid Applications​
The Rosemount 3810 liquid ultrasonic flow meters provide vital metering solutions across every stage of the oil and gas value chain—from production to transportation to distribution. Commonly used in onshore/offshore production, refining, storage, crude and refined product pipelines, and distribution facilities like load racks and marketing terminals.​
Technology​
Ultrasonic meters are used for custody transfer and fiscal measurement in oil and gas. They measure fluid velocity in a closed pipe using ultrasonic pulses (over 20 kHz frequency), calculating average velocity along the ultrasound beam. This technology is suitable for both gas and liquid measurement, treating them as fluids for accurate flow calculations.​
Hydrogen Blending​
Ultrasonic meters can currently handle 20-30% hydrogen by volume while maintaining a reliable level of accuracy in existing natural gas pipelines. The Rosemount™ SeniorSonic 3414 and 3418 Gas Ultrasonic Flow Meter ensures blending of hydrogen at levels of up to 30% while maintaining custody transfer accuracy and reliability.​
Smart Meter Verification​
Rosemount Gas Ultrasonic Flow Meters include Smart Meter Verification for expert analysis and simplified status checks, reducing data analysis time. Combined with MeterLink™ Software, they provide performance diagnostics and dynamic flow insights to identify measurement uncertainties. T-200 Gas Ultrasonic Transducer​
The robust, titanium-encapsulated T-200 transducer is safely extractable under pressure without special tools. It performs excellently in wet, sour, and corrosive environments. Using patented 3D-printed MiniHorn array technology, it amplifies signals, overcoming attenuation and reverberation. The isolated design protects from corrosive fluids, enhancing reliability and extending component life.​
