The MS Sensor and 8782 Transmitter provide confidence in measurement accuracy through signal processing and diagnostics

Micro Motion Mag Slurry 6 Full Open

Outperforms all Other Magnetic Flow Meters in Slurry Applications

With over twenty years of experience delivering high signal products, the Slurry Magnetic Flow Meter redefines what’s possible from your measurement devices.  Noise is common in process fluids containing solid particulates, from sand to long fibers rubbing against the electrodes and everything in between. Real-time diagnostics deliver measurement confidence and the ability to automatically control the loop, improving product quality, reducing raw material cost and minimizing waste, and re-work.

How It Works

Industries that have slurry applications as part of their processes where a fluid is pumped, pulped, or mined have increased demands to monitor specific pipe lines to ensure optimal functionality and gain process insight. Particulates in the flow stream can result in an unstable measurement reading through the induced voltage measured by the electrodes when using standard magnetic flow meters, obtaining a measurement is not feasible without the right equipment.

Analog damping is a way of reducing noise in the flow signal by taking a running average of the flow rate. While damping works well to create a stable flow measurement, it adds lag to the measurement causing delays to the response due to real-time changes in your process flow. Potential implications of damping could be fluctuations in chemical usage, product quality, and product waste. When both flow stability and responsiveness are desired, advanced signal processing offers a superior solution.

The 8782 Transmitter comes standard with our advanced signal processing, which features the ability to adapt to the changing process characteristics to ensure excess noise is omitted and the legitimate flow data points are used.  The transmitter utilizes advanced functions to stabilize erratic flow readings caused by process noise. Essentially it ensures noise is filtered out while remaining responsive to sudden changes in flow like never before.

Advanced diagnostics give you better insight into your process flow through process diagnostics, and the health of your flow meter with Smart Meter Verification™️. Process diagnostics include high process noise, allowing for the maximum signal stability when paired with our selectable coil frequency and electrode coating detection to predict when coating is occurring. Smart Meter Verification verifies the health of the meter and provides confidence that readings are within specifications

The 8782 transmitter is designed to work with the MS Sensor and is compatible with existing 8707 installations. Existing 8712H transmitters can be easily upgraded to the 8782 using the same mounting pattern and wires. The 8782 comes in AC or DC power supply options, allowing existing DC installations to be upgraded without the need for a power convertor. The MS Sensor is compatible with the 8782 transmitter and the 8732EM or 8712EM transmitters when the dual calibration option is selected.
