Flow control of seawater pipelines

Many mining operations, especially in areas with limited freshwater sources, turn to seawater as an abundant source of water. However, seawater is salty and not directly usable for most mining processes. To make seawater usable for ore processing, cooling machinery, dust suppression, and other essential functions, mining companies install desalination plants. It is essential to have control over these pipelines, but large pipe sizes, intensive scaling, and constant corrosion make it impossible for most of the flow metering solutions to succeed in these conditions, but not for low maintenance clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, which are designed to target these kind of applications.
