Frequently Asked Questions
The Rosemount™ 9000 Series™ represents a bold leap into the future of flow measurement. Led by the innovative 9205 Magnetic Flow Sensor and the feature-rich 9732 Magnetic Flow Transmitter, this platform sets a new standard in accuracy, safety, and performance for process industries.
The Rosemount 9000 Series is the next-generation line of magnetic flow meters, starting with the 9205 Sensor and 9732 Transmitter. This series delivers smarter diagnostics, a modern user experience, and enhanced performance, making it the new benchmark in magnetic flow measurement.
It offers advanced process and device insights, data and device logging capabilities, wireless Bluetooth® configuration, simplified remote wiring with an intrinsically safe sensor.
The Rosemount 9000 Series builds on our legacy of innovation with new capabilities and enhancements, while the Rosemount 8700 Series remains a trusted and fully supported solution for a wide range of applications. Both product lines are available and actively maintained, giving customers flexibility to choose the best fit for their specific needs. The 9000 Series does not replace the 8700 but rather it expands the portfolio to serve a wider range of needs.
The Rosemount 9205 Magnetic Flow Sensor is available in line sizes from ½” to 8” (excluding 2.5” and 5”). Additional sizes will be added for future products within the 9000 Series.
No. The 9732 Transmitter is engineered exclusively for use with only the 9205 Sensor and future product releases within the 9000 Series. The 9000 Series transmitters and sensors are not backward-compatible with any 8700 Series sensor sensors and transmitters.
The 9732 offers significant improvements in diagnostics, usability, and performance. It supports enhanced and new process and device insights, configurable I/O, universal service port, wireless Bluetooth® configuration, SMV Basic as a standard feature and SMV Pro as an option. It’s also designed for Safety Instrumented Systems and provides more hazardous area approvals coverage.
The 9205 is the first intrinsically safe magnetic flow sensor that delivers full 4-wire performance. Its ultra-low power design paired with digital communication between the sensor and transmitter allows for simplified remote mount wiring, more hazardous area approvals coverage, and better out-of-box performance, all without compromising measurement accuracy.
The 9000 Series is designed for demanding process applications in chemical, oil and gas, refining, power industries and more. Anywhere precision, durability, and safety are non-negotiable.
With PFAS-free liner options like PEX, energy-efficient flow meter system, and a modular construction that improves lead times and reduces waste, the 9000 Series was built with sustainability at its core.
Yes. The 9732 supports AMS and ProLink connectivity as well as a wireless Bluetooth® technology for remote configuration, enabling fast, secure configuring, maintaining, or troubleshooting field instruments to quickly perform rounds, resolve simple issues, and address what needs immediate attention.
The 9732 features process (High Process Noise, Electrode Coating Detection, Smart Fluid Diagnostic) and device (SMV Basic and Pro) diagnostics, built-in Data Historian, real-time device data logging, and onboard LCR/Multimeter helps you quickly go back in time and quickly pinpoint where process issues might have started without having to physically be at the device.
Yes. The 9732 is certified for SIL2 single use and SIL3 multiple use safety applications per IEC 61508.
Yes, the new product architecture including modular and design innovations, is intended to reduce lead times and improve delivery reliability.
