Commercial Laundry Equipment

Emerson components optimize cold and hot water, steam, air, and fuel gas handling in industrial laundry equipment.

Fluid Automation Solutions for Commercial Laundry

The high flow and BTU required by commercial laundry equipment demands tough fluid and motion control components. As part of Emerson's full platform solution, ASCO valves and air products withstand the stresses of comercial laundry operations. Our product line combines safety and efficiency over every stage of the industrial laundry process: washing, pressing, drying, separating, ironing and folding.

Our solutions offer optimized outputs with ASCO's unsurpassed service, safety, and reliability.

Solutions in Action

Batch Washing

Batch washing uses a series of connected compartments that handle a different stage of washing. A corkscrew-shaped auger passes through each compartment to gradually turn and push the laundry through each stage.

The first stages soak and wash while subsequent compartments perform rinsing. By the end, the washed fabric has been bundled by the auger and compressed for easy loading into dryers or pressers.

ASCO angle-body piston valves provide high flow to improve throughput and decrease fill times.

Pressing

Pressing is performed on linens after washing in order to extract remaining water. This minimizes energy consumption and time during the drying process.
An entire batch of linens is pressed between two large plates that are pushed together to squeeze out the water, which is then drained.
Pressing can occur at warm temperatures to assist the drying process and make the linens more malleable.
Reliable air preparation and solenoid ASCO valves increase throughput and minimize machine downtime.

Heavy Duty Washing

Heavy Duty Washers, also called Washer Extractors, operate like residential front-loading washers but at 3-30 times the capacity. Fabrics are washed in single batches in one chamber using a wash, spin, rinse, and final spin cycle that employs centrifugal force to extract water and detergent.

Cost-efficient machines feature components that stand up to the stresses of the process. ASCO valves increase longevity and productivity through top-tier service, expertise, durability and reliability.

Drying

Dryers house a vented cylindrical tube that spins and allows air to flow through. Air is heated by a gas-powered heater connected to the tube and then then drawn through the tube as it spins. Hot air flows through the linens as they tumble, heating all areas and the water in them. Water is turned into steam and vented out above of the tube, resulting in dry and decompressed linens.

Reliable high-flow ASCO components safely vent hot air, provide faster drying times and minimize downtimes.

Ironing and Folding

Ironing machines use a long heated cylinder that spins to pull linens across it. It is pressed tightly against a second rolling cylinder to squeeze linens between them and remove wrinkles.

Folding machines use a conveyor belt to pull linens upward and drape them over a roller. Linens are repeatedly draped over rollers and hit with air pulses to create crossfolds until neatly folded.

Durable ASCO steam and proportional valves maximize steam and air efficiency and minimize machine downtime.
