Hot Backup Configuration

In this tutorial, you will learn the steps for configuring the Hot Backup feature on your Rosemount 3144P Temperature Transmitter.

Time to Complete: Approximately 10 minutes

What You'll Need:

Tutorial Summary:

  1. Starting from the Home Screen, Press 2 to select "Configure".
  2. Press 2 to select "Manual Setup".
  3. Press 4 to select "Diagnostics".
  4. Press 1 to select "Hot Backup".
  5. Press 3 to select "Config Hot Backup"
  6. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  7. Select 1 to enable Hot Backup if it was previously disabled and press ENTER.
  8. If Hot Backup was previously enabled, Select 2 “No” to reconfigure Hot Backup and press ENTER.
  9. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  10. Select the value you wish to configure as the Primary Variable and press ENTER.
  11. Press OK to confirm the changes.
  12. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  13. The Hot Backup configuration is now complete. Notice the correct Primary Variable is now selected.
  14. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.

Callendar - Van Dusen

In this tutorial, you will learn the steps for configuring the Callendar-Van Dusen coefficients on your Rosemount 3144P Temperature Transmitter.

Time to Complete: Approximately 10 minutes

What You'll Need:

Tutorial Summary:

  1. Starting from the Home screen, press 2 to select "Configure".
  2. Press 2 to select "Manual Setup".
  3. Press 1 to select "Sensor 1".
  4. Ensure the sensor type is set to Cal VanDusen.
  5. Ensure the sensor connection matches your RTD sensor.
  6. If the sensor type or sensor connection settings were updated, press SEND. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
  7. Press 9 to select the Sensor Matching-Callendar-Van Dusen menu.
  8. Press 5 to select "Set CVD Coefficients".
  9. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  10. Press 2 to select "R0, Alpha, Beta, Delta" and press ENTER.
  11. Enter the given R0, Alpha, Beta, and Delta values.
  12. Notice the correct coefficients are displayed (the values may vary slightly). Pressure OK to continue.
  13. The Callendar-Van Dusen configuration is now complete.
  14. Select 3 and then press ENTER to exit.
  15. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.
  16. Repeat this tutorial for Sensor 2 if required.

Min/Max Tracking

In this tutorial, you will learn the steps for configuring the Min/Max Tracking feature on your Rosemount 3144P Temperature Transmitter.

What You'll Need:

  1. Starting from the Home Screen, Press 2 to select "Configure".
  2. Press 2 to select "Manual Setup".
  3. Press 4 to select "Diagnostics".
  4. Press 3 to select "Sensor and Process Diagnostics".
  5. Press 5 to select "Config Min/Max Tracking"
  6. Select 1 and then press ENTER.
  7. Select 1 and then press ENTER to configure the first parameter.
  8. Select which Variable you wish to track and then press ENTER.
  9. Repeat the last two steps for each additional parameter you wish to configure.
  10. When you have selected all of the parameters required, Press 6 and then press ENTER.
  11. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  12. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.

Sensor Setup

In this tutorial, you will learn the steps for setting up each sensor on your Rosemount 3144P Temperature Transmitter.

Time to Complete: Approximately 10 minutes

What You'll Need:

Tutorial Summary:

  1. Starting from the Home Screen, Press 2 to select "Configure".
  2. Press 2 to select "Manual Setup".
  3. Press 1 to select “Sensor 1”.
  4. Press 2 to select “Sensor 1 Type”.
  5. Select the type of your sensor and press ENTER.
  6. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  7. Press 4 to select “Sensor 1 Units” and set the units for your measurement.
  8. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  9. Select the units you would like and press ENTER.
  10. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  11. The correct settings should now be selected. Press SEND to finalize all the settings.
  12. Press the Back Arrow in the top left corner to return to the previous page.
  13. Repeat these same steps for Sensor 2 if required.
  14. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.

Variable Mapping

In this tutorial, you will learn the steps for mapping the variables on your Rosemount 3144P Temperature Transmitter.

Time to Complete: Approximately 10 minutes

What You'll Need:

Tutorial Summary:

  1. Starting from the Home Screen, Press 2 to select "Configure".
  2. Press 2 to select "Manual Setup".
  3. Press 8 to select “HART”.
  4. Press 5 to select “Variable Mapping”.
  5. Press 5 to select “Re-map Variables”.
  6. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  7. Select the value you wish to configure as the Primary Variable and then press ENTER.
  8. Select the value you wish to configure as the Second Variable and then press ENTER. If you wish to not have a Second Variable press 7 and then ENTER.
  9. Repeat the step above for the Third and Fourth Variable.
  10. Press OK when the warning message appears.
  11. Variable Mapping is now complete. Notice the correct Primary, Second, Third, and Fourth Variable are now selected.
  12. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.

  9. Select your trigger level preference and press ENTER.
  10. Press OK to confirm the setting.
  11. Press 1 and then press ENTER to calculate the baseline resistance.
  12. Once the calculations are complete, press OK to confirm the setting.
  13. Repeat these same steps for Sensor 2 if required.
  14. The Thermocouple Degradation Diagnostic configuration is now complete. Press 3and then ENTER.
  15. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.
