PUNE, India (March 23, 2018) – Strengthening its commitment towards workplace diversity and inclusion, Emerson (NYSE: EMR) was the silver sponsor for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) conference held in Pune, Maharashtra on March 21, 2018. This is the third time Emerson has been a part of the Indian edition of the SWE conference, which was first initiated in the country in 2016.
The company’s recurring sponsorship and participation at the event is in conjunction with its global ‘Emerson Women in STEM’ employee resource group, which organizes and hosts networking opportunities and professional development sessions, participates in the Society of Women Engineers, promotes awareness of women in STEM career opportunities, and contributes to recruiting activities across Emerson’s expansive business network.
This year’s SWE conference in India witnessed active participation by Emerson in a panel discussion hosted by Aleen Bayard on Perspectives on Workplace Flexibility where Anuja Pandey, technical lead, Emerson Innovation Center – Pune, shared her insights on workplace flexibility requirements and the strategies to maintain an active balance between home and the workplace.
In addition, papers written by four employees from Emerson Innovation Center – Pune were shortlisted to be presented at the conference and would be hosted on the Society of Women Engineers’ website: Strategic Leadership – A Critical Ingredient for Success by Anuja Pandey; Marking your Presence in your Absence by Parneet Kaur, project lead; The Secret Ingredient by Farina Kidwai, lead engineer; The Face of Women Engineers in the Land of Gender Diversity & Cultural Differences by Tejasvita Singh, project engineer.
The annual three-day conference, which featured a series of interactive workshops, talks and showcases, was attended by students, business leaders and industry professionals in engineering and technology from across the country.
