Level Measurement Solutions for 3-Phase Separators

Maximize Separation Process Efficiency with Accurate Level Technology

Three-phase separators are used to separate hydrocarbon fluids into three components: gas, oil, and water. The separation process requires accurate and reliable continuous level measurement to prevent carryover and carry under, whereby free liquid leaves with the gas phase, affecting the process efficiency. Carryover can mean the liquid level within the separator is too high. This can be prevented by using guided wave radar technology such as the Rosemount™ 5300 Level Transmitter with a single lead probe (either directly mounted or in a chamber), paired with vibrating fork switches such as the Rosemount 2120 for high- and low-level point measurement. Level measurement technology can also help to identify when high levels of sediment collect in the base of the separator to avoid blocked inlets or sediment from being drawn down lines and into pumps. The Rosemount 2140 Level Detector with sand switch functionality can be installed to detect unwanted sand buildup.
