Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions related to industrial wireless gateways.
An industrial wireless gateway is a critical component in industrial automation and networking. It acts as a bridge between wireless communication networks and wired industrial networks, enabling seamless communication and data exchange between various devices and systems within an industrial setting.
The dual WirelessHART® feature on the Emerson Wireless 1410S allows a single point of communication for up to 500 WirelessHART devices to a central Gateway host. Adding a second Emerson Wireless 781S Smart Antenna enhances the Emerson Wireless 1410S Gateway, significantly lowering infrastructure and installation expenses by doubling the number of devices capable of connecting. Each antenna communicates with independent networks that the Gateway Network Manager operates. The result is more visibility to critical assets that help improve productivity. To enhance the dual WirelessHART feature, pair with the Plantweb Insight™ Network Management application which is designed for continuous, centralized monitoring of wireless networks across industrial facilities.
An industrial wireless antenna is a specialized device designed to transmit and receive electromagnetic signals in industrial environments. These antennas are typically robust and durable, engineered to withstand harsh conditions such as extreme temperatures, humidity, and interference from various machinery. They play a crucial role in facilitating wireless communication for automation, process control, and data transmission within factories, warehouses, and other industrial settings. Industrial wireless antennas are essential components of networks that enable remote monitoring, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, and ensure seamless connectivity and communication among devices and systems.
WirelessHART is a wireless communication protocol based on the Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) specification, tailored specifically for industrial applications. It operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and is designed to provide secure and reliable wireless communication for process automation and control systems. WirelessHART facilitates the integration of field devices, enabling them to transmit data wirelessly to control systems, which enhances operational efficiency and flexibility. The protocol offers robust security features, as well as self-organizing and self-healing mesh network capabilities, ensuring consistent performance even in challenging industrial environments.
