Improve Process Throughput and Quality with Temperature Transmitters
It is important to have accurate and reliable temperature measurements to maintain quality of roasted products. Historically, slip rings have been used to measure temperature in rotating roasters. Slip rings can become oxidized over time, and replacement requires a roaster shutdown and inspection. To alleviate the challenges of using a slip ring, Rosemount™ 648 Wireless Temperature Transmitters coupled with Rosemount 214C Temperature Sensors can be used to measure the surface temperature of the roaster. The transmitters communicate temperature readings back to the control system to help maintain product quality and avoid a process shutdown that would be required with using slip rings. This solution also vastly improves process throughput and decreases maintenance costs.

The Rosemount 648 Wireless Temperature Transmitter offers best-in-class wireless accuracy and stability for process monitoring. This durable transmitter is designed with a dual-compartment housing for field reliability. When combined with Rosemount X-well™ Technology and the Rosemount 0085 Pipe Clamp sensor, this transmitter can provide accurate measurement of process temperature via an in-transmitter thermal conductivity algorithm, eliminating the need for a thermowell or process penetration.

The Rosemount 214C RTD Temperature Sensor is a Pt-100, single or dual element resistant temperature detector (RTD) that covers a wide range of temperatures, from -321 to 1112°F (-196 to 600°C). An exceptional solution, this sensor has a thin-film and wire-wound design for application flexibility. With many calibration options, including Class A or B sensor accuracy, this sensor also offers Callendar-Van Dusen constants for transmitter-sensor matching to provide the highest level of accuracy.
