Monitor pressure & temperature behind the well casing, protect well integrity, and secure production and offshore safety

The Downhole System Principles

Operators must be able to access information from within the wells and, in particular, behind the well casing. Yet, while the annulus B is the area most likely to see the first indication of high pressures further down the well, operators have little way of knowing this. It’s through wireless based downhole systems that temperature and pressure behind the well casing can be monitored, providing early warnings of high pressures and pressure build-up, protecting casing integrity and providing valuable input during trouble-shooting. The result is improved well integrity and continuous production.

How It Works

Precise Downhole Monitoring

Deployed in production, injection and highly complex multi-zone intelligent wells, downhole monitoring systems and high-pressure/temperature gauges must perform in the harshest of deep well environments. This requires accurate, precise and real-time measurements - crucial to reservoir operations.

Threat Identification

Whether it be unforeseen pressure build-up, cement sealing behind the well casing or sand or corrosion threats, downhole monitoring warns operators of threats to production and provides vital input to existing production systems and well optimization.

Prevent Pressure Build-Ups

In the areas behind the well casing, pressure build-ups can cause the cement sealing to deteriorate, leading to a loss of casing integrity and the vertical migration of oil & gas towards the surface. In the worst-case scenario, this can lead to shallow gas blowouts. In such cases, downhole information from behind the well casing is vital and an important contributor to offshore safety.

Well Integrity

The broad variety of downhole and completion products on the market today is crucial for protecting well integrity. Robust cable protectors can secure downhole electrical cables and hydraulic control lines; wellhead outlets can serve as a pressure barrier between the well and top side; and downhole monitoring can tell you everything on what is going on at the bottom of your well. The result is an integrated downhole network.
