The Air Separation Process

In and around an Air Separation Unit (ASU), Liquid Oxygen (LOX), a direct product of the cryogenic distillation process, is handled prior to conversion into Gaseous Oxygen (GOX). This occurs in a heat exchanger, following which gaseous oxygen is distributed and used in blast furnace, chemical reactors and many other industrial applications. Often, these services face important reliability issues that impact plant productivity and, more critically, safety: a defective valve can result in a significant accident.

Reliable oxygen service valves must combine suitable material selection with the fulfilment of stringent cleanliness requirements to deliver outstanding isolation and control  functions at cryogenic temperatures in LOX and high pressures in GOX.

Superior Oxygen Service Valve Design

Improve Safety

Rising stems and body cavities in traditional valve designs create risk of external particulate ingress and oxygen phase change with consequent potential for ignition. Furthermore, traditional gate, ball and high-performance butterfly designs experience mechanical friction during sealing which is another possible source of ignition.

Vanessa Series 30,000 for oxygen service combine suitable design features (full metal construction, frictionless quarter turn rotation, metal to metal torque seating) with an optimized material selection to safely deliver outstanding isolation and control functions in critical applications with enriched oxygen atmospheres.

Ensure Cleanliness

Valves for oxygen applications require stringent level of cleanliness.

The cleaning, inspecting, assembly, testing, protection and labelling of Vanessa TOV for oxygen service are executed in compliance with the relevant product specifications in a designated manufacturing location. All the operations are carried out by expert personnel, specifically trained and equipped.

Increase Reliability

Rubbing of sealing elements, can be a source of ignition but also results in wear of the sealing components, requiring routine maintenance.

The design of Vanessa Series 30,000 Triple Offset Valve for oxygen service features a frictionless metal to metal torque seating with minimal planned maintenance required.

Reduce Installation & Maintenance Cost

Traditional ball and gate valves generate high total installation cost (due to their large footprint, heavy weight and high torque actuation required) and significant maintenance cost as well.

Vanessa Series 30,000 TOV features compact footprint and actuation requirements and can significantly reduce installation cost.

Furthermore, with its minimal need for maintenance, Vanessa Series 30,000 TOV can extend plant unit/process uptime and reduce maintenance cost.
