What are Type K Thermocouples? (Chromel® – Alumel®)

  • Type K is one of the most common general purpose thermocouple sensors with a sensitivity of approximately 41 μV/ ºC and a potential temperature range of -270 °C to +1372°C (-454 °F to +2501°F) 

    • Most usage is above 538°C (1000°F)

  • Type K thermocouples may be used in continuously oxidizing or neutral atmospheres
