The Connected Future of Hydropower Generation

As he detailed in a recent article for POWER magazine, Emerson’s Matt Roberts says today’s most productive hydroelectric sites have discovered that better visibility and control are critical to efficient operation and long-term success. Modern organizations are moving away from complex webs of interconnected independent controllers toward Emerson’s more advanced automation approach to creating seamless data mobility across control architectures. By implementing hydropower systems that are fully integrated by design, Roberts says teams can eliminate silos of data and gain greater visibility into what is happening with operations and maintenance, not only at a single site, but also across a cascade, fleet, or entire enterprise.
