Hydrogen fuel cell production facilities and storage areas present unique challenges. Because hydrogen is lighter than air and very dispersive, it diffuses quickly when it escapes into the air. However, if hydrogen accumulates in a confined space, without proper ventilation, it could ignite or cause an explosion. Rosemount™ gas monitoring and gas detection products act as a first line of defense to quickly detect hydrogen gas leaks, helping to prevent further spread and potential ignition.
If ignition does happen, hydrogen fires are almost invisible to the naked eye during daylight hours. Due to its low radiant heat, a hydrogen fire may not be detected until a person is close to or inside the fire itself. Without a flame detection system in place, a hydrogen fire could go undetected. The Rosemount 975HR Flame Detector can quickly detect hydrogen fires at long distances with a high immunity to false alarms.

The Rosemount 975HR Multi-Spectrum Infrared Hydrogen Flame Detector is specifically designed for the detection of hydrocarbon and hydrogen flames. It detects hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires at long distances with a high immunity to false alarms. The Rosemount 975HR Flame Detector is a durable and weather resistant hydrogen flame detector. This flame detector includes a heated window to eliminate condensation and icing, HART™, lower power requirements and a compact lighter design.

The Rosemount Incus Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detector utilizes four ultra-sensitive acoustic sensors that constantly monitor wide areas for ultrasound generated from the release of pressurized gas. Ideally suited for monitoring well-ventilated outdoor environments, the ultrasonic gas leak detector has been engineered to withstand the most extreme conditions and is unaffected by inclement weather, wind, leak direction, and gas dilution or stratification.
