Reliable Gas Monitoring & Flame Detection

Pumping stations, also called compressor stations, are located along pipelines to facilitate the transportation of natural gas from location to location. The natural gas is repeatedly pressurized by engines or special turbines every 40-100 miles. The occurrence of fires in natural gas compressor stations is fortunately infrequent, however, the consequences can be severe, leading to the destruction or extensive damage of equipment to the loss of an entire station, and even the loss of life. A major cause of compressor station fires is failures of the gas piping systems. Gas leak detectors must be able to detect a build-up of combustible gases that may come into contact with an ignition source and cause a fire, while flame detectors must detect flames rapidly to prevent a widespread fire. Rosemount™ gas and flame detection solutions are ideal for monitoring and detecting gas leaks and flames at pumping stations.
