Rosemount™ 3051 Pressure Transmitter

The Coplanar transmitter design allows for two pressure sensing isolating diaphragms which enable differential pressure as a measurement type. The coplanar form also allows for greater installation flexibility with assembly to various process flanges, manifolds, remote seals and DP flow primary elements but is often connected to the process through impulse piping. The in-line pressure transmitter is optimized for direct installation onto the process pipe or vessel with a lightweight form factor and single isolating diaphragm and process connection.

The Rosemount 3051 family operates as an all-in-one solution that can output pressure, level or flow variables. The transmitter directly measures pressure, but different configurations can calculate and output flow and level measurements. For level measurement, hydrostatic pressure can be measured in a vented or pressurized tank using a gauge or differential pressure transmitter respectively. For flow measurement, a DP primary element like an orifice plate or annubar is used in tandem with the transmitter to establish a differential pressure to flow relationship.

The Rosemount 3051 Pressure Transmitter supports WirelessHART technology as a selectable option, which delivers over 99% data reliability through time-synchronized mesh networking where devices relay data across multiple paths. It operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band with automatic channel hopping to avoid interference from Wi-Fi and other wireless devices. Built-in Bluetooth® connectivity is also available and allows technicians to access calibration, diagnostic and configuration information without physical wired connections, reducing installation costs while maintaining industrial security standards.

The Rosemount 3051 Pressure Transmitter is a robust device that can operate in the field with minimal maintenance. The 10-year stability of the pressure device ensures accurate measurement over a long period of time. Additionally, diagnostic capabilities can alert users when maintenance may be required on the device, allowing scheduled maintenance cycles to be otherwise extended.

The Rosemount 3051 Pressure Transmitter is certified to IEC 61508, achieving SIL 2 and SIL 3 ratings through third-party assessment for functional safety applications. It includes FMEDA data supporting safety instrumented system design and risk assessment. These certifications make it suitable for regulated industries including oil and gas, chemical processing and power generation.

The 4-inch graphical, back-lit display supports 8 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. The high-contrast screen remains readable in bright sunlight and dim environments with visual status icons that communicate transmitter health and alerts. Language support is critical in global operations with multilingual teams, and the graphical interface reduces training burden and speeds troubleshooting.

Loop Integrity detection monitors the electrical circuit for any potential issues such as open circuits, wire breaks and loose connections. This monitoring ensures the measurement value output by the device is seen at the control system or PLC as well, and can alert the user if any deviation in the electrical loop has occurred. The Plugged Impulse Line Detection diagnostic identifies blockages in sensing lines that would otherwise produce false readings or on-scale failures. Both diagnostics are configurable to alarm or alert enunciations, and occurrences are logged within the device.

The rangedown of a device refers to the ratio of the transmitter upper range limit and the minimum span possible. A 150:1 ratio means that for a transmitter with an upper range of 300 psi, the transmitter can still accurately measure a span as low as 2 psi. This allows a single transmitter to be used in a variety of applications, reducing complexity in ordering and stock replacement or maintenance spares.
