The Coplanar transmitter design allows for two pressure sensing isolating diaphragms which enable differential pressure as a measurement type. The coplanar form also allows for greater installation flexibility with assembly to various process flanges, manifolds, remote seals and DP flow primary elements but is often connected to the process through impulse piping. The in-line pressure transmitter is optimized for direct installation onto the process pipe or vessel with a lightweight form factor and single isolating diaphragm and process connection.
The Rosemount 3051 family operates as an all-in-one solution that can output pressure, level or flow variables. The transmitter directly measures pressure, but different configurations can calculate and output flow and level measurements. For level measurement, hydrostatic pressure can be measured in a vented or pressurized tank using a gauge or differential pressure transmitter respectively. For flow measurement, a DP primary element like an orifice plate or annubar is used in tandem with the transmitter to establish a differential pressure to flow relationship.
The Rosemount 3051 Pressure Transmitter supports WirelessHART technology as a selectable option, which delivers over 99% data reliability through time-synchronized mesh networking where devices relay data across multiple paths. It operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band with automatic channel hopping to avoid interference from Wi-Fi and other wireless devices. Built-in Bluetooth® connectivity is also available and allows technicians to access calibration, diagnostic and configuration information without physical wired connections, reducing installation costs while maintaining industrial security standards.

The rangedown of a device refers to the ratio of the transmitter upper range limit and the minimum span possible. A 150:1 ratio means that for a transmitter with an upper range of 300 psi, the transmitter can still accurately measure a span as low as 2 psi. This allows a single transmitter to be used in a variety of applications, reducing complexity in ordering and stock replacement or maintenance spares.
