Measurement Instrumentation for Natural Gas Production

Precision Measurement for Reliable Natural Gas Production

Feed gas for LNG terminals is sourced via pipelines from both onshore and offshore production facilities. Depending on the world area, this feed gas could contain condensates and other heavy hydrocarbons used as fuel that need to be separated out. In North America, the feed gas is usually field-processed before entering the natural gas pipeline. This means the pipeline gas has already had the heavier hydrocarbons removed, resulting in feed gas with a pipeline-grade composition—typically containing more than 90% methane.

Measurement accuracy is critical to operational success in the demanding environments of natural gas production, particularly when supplying LNG facilities. Inaccurate measurements can lead to equipment failures, product loss, and costly downtime. Emerson's innovative measurement technologies help mitigate these risks by maximizing throughput, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.
