Multiple line sizes are available to provide an ideal platform for batching, distribution, allocation and intra-plant measurement applications.
How It Works
Coriolis Flow Meter Principles
Coriolis flow meters operate on motion mechanics: as fluid flows through a vibrating tube, it accelerates toward peak amplitude and decelerates away from it, creating a twisting effect. This twist, measured during each vibration cycle, directly correlates to mass flow rate.
Importance
Coriolis meters use motion mechanics to measure flow. As fluid enters, vibrating tubes oscillate in opposition. Pickoffs generate sine waves from each tube, and the time delay between them—called Delta-T—is directly proportional to the mass flow rate.
Range
Coriolis flow meters are vital across industries, offering broad line sizes, high accuracy, and wide turndown. They measure flow from grams/hour to 120,000 lbs/min and provide a wide dynamic range due to the linear signal response during flow measurement.
Applications
Coriolis flow meters are used in critical applications across oil & gas, chemical, power, water, food, and life sciences. They handle low to high flow rates, custody transfer, and challenging liquid, gas, or slurry conditions with high accuracy and reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Explore these frequently asked questions to learn how Micro Motion Coriolis flow meters deliver precise, reliable measurement across a wide range of industrial applications.
A Micro Motion Coriolis flow meter is a precision instrument that directly measures mass flow, density, and temperature of liquids, gases, or slurries using the Coriolis effect. It provides highly accurate and repeatable measurements across a wide range of applications.
The meter operates by vibrating a flow tube through which the process fluid passes. The Coriolis forces induced by the fluid flow cause a measurable twist in the tube, which is directly proportional to the mass flow rate. Simultaneously, the system measures fluid density and temperature, offering comprehensive flow analysis. Learn more about the Theory of Coriolis here.
These meters are utilized across various industries, including oil and gas, chemical processing, food and beverage, life sciences, water and wastewater, and power generation. Their versatility and accuracy make them suitable for both standard and challenging process conditions.
Key benefits include:
Direct mass flow measurement eliminating the need for separate temperature and pressure compensation.
High accuracy and repeatability enhancing process control and product quality.
No moving parts reducing maintenance and increasing reliability.
Multivariable outputs providing mass flow, density, and temperature data from a single device.
Wide turndown ratio accommodating a broad range of flow rates.
Yes, certain models meet the stringent accuracy and reliability requirements for custody transfer, making them ideal for fiscal measurement in the oil and gas industry and other sectors where precise accounting of material transfer is critical.
Smart Meter Verification is an integrated diagnostic tool that verifies the meter's performance and integrity without interrupting the process. It provides confidence in measurement accuracy and helps in predictive maintenance planning.
