Conductivity is measured in wet gas scrubbers to determine when scrubbing water has accumulated too many solids and needs to be blown down and replaced with makeup water. Additionally, batch scrubbers often use conductivity instead of pH to monitor scrubbing effectiveness. This process often coats conductivity sensors and can lead to corrosion. The Rosemount™ 228 Toroidal Conductivity Sensor is a good choice for most wet gas scrubbers. In applications where there is a large loading of particulates, the large bore Rosemount 226 Toroidal Conductivity Sensor or the Rosemount 242 Flow Through Toroidal Conductivity Sensor (for extreme cases), may be preferred.
