Multiple processes are used to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG), all of which involve refrigerating the gas and expanding it to turn it into a cryogenic liquid. Spills, leaks and subsequent explosion are risks in every operational step of LNG production, from compression and odorization to storage and distribution. While the cryogenic liquid is non-flammable, if LNG warms and vaporizes into the air, it could form a rising cloud of methane gas presenting an ignition risk. In a contained area, this could lead to an explosion. The presence of refrigerants also necessitates toxic gas detection in LNG facilities, to protect personnel from harm. Both gases and flames, such as butane, propane, and methane, must be detected at storage, compressor and filling areas. Due to the high flammability of the gas, fast and reliable detection is critical. Product Solutions
The Rosemount Incus Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detector utilizes four ultra-sensitive acoustic sensors that constantly monitor wide areas for ultrasound generated from the release of pressurized gas. Ideally suited for monitoring well-ventilated outdoor environments, the ultrasonic gas leak detector has been engineered to withstand the most extreme conditions and is unaffected by inclement weather, wind, leak direction, and gas dilution or stratification.

2) in remote applications previously too challenging and costly to monitor. This wireless toxic gas monitoring system enhances worker safety through early gas leak detection, simply integrates with
WirelessHART® technology, and eliminates the need for expensive wiring. The Rosemount 928 Wireless Gas Monitor easily connects to the Rosemount 628 Universal Gas Sensor which consists of a tool-less-hot-swappable smart sensor module.

The Rosemount 936 Open Path Toxic Gas Detector provides continuous monitoring for hydrogen sulfide (H
2S) gas or ammonia (NH
3) gas, even in harsh environments where dust, fog, rain, snow or vibration can cause a high reduction of signal. This toxic gas detector utilizes ultraviolet technology and has long range detection up to 200 ft (60 m). Worldwide approvals for the Rosemount 936 Open Path Toxic Gas Detector include ATEX, IECEx, FM/FMC, INMETRO, TR CU, and SIL 2 (TÜV).

The Rosemount 975MR Multi-Spectrum Infrared Flame Detector accurately analyzes the multi-spectral signals of hydrocarbon gas or liquid fires by utilizing four separate IR sensors. The 975MR detects fuel and gas fires at long distances. For example, this product will detect a 1 ft2 (0.1m2) gasoline pan fire at 300 ft (90 m). The 975MR also provides a high immunity to false alarms and enhanced overall coverage range.
