Protect Hot Asphalt Tanks using Wireless Temperature Transmitters
The presence of cold spots in asphalt tanks present safety challenges for refineries. Asphalt is added to tanks at very hot temperatures (300-400 F). Hot asphalt has the potential to melt through currently stored asphalt and reach a cold pocket. The convergence of hot asphalt with a cold pocket can cause mositure to flash off violently. This trapped moisture can lead to roof failure and costly tank damage. The Rosemount™ 648 Temperature Transmitter can be used to monitor the asphalt inside your tank and send data to the control system in your facility so that cold spots can be easily identified and avoided during the addition of hot asphalt to the tank.

The Rosemount 214C RTD Temperature Sensor is a Pt-100, single or dual element resistant temperature detector (RTD) that covers a wide range of temperatures, from -321 to 1112°F (-196 to 600°C). An exceptional solution, this sensor has a thin-film and wire-wound design for application flexibility. With many calibration options, including Class A or B sensor accuracy, this sensor also offers Callendar-Van Dusen constants for transmitter-sensor matching to provide the highest level of accuracy.
