With the new Rosemount 5408 Level Transmitter simplification is key, from the pictorial instructions and graphical, intuitive wizards to the unique PTFE seal that does not contain any wetted o-rings.
The 2-wire non-contacting radar Rosemount 5408 is optimized for best sensitivity in process applications. It uses fast-sweep Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology that deploys a continuous echo to maximize radar signal strength and produce a more robust and reliable measurement.
Radar signals are continuously transmitted towards the media surface with a microwave frequency modulated over a span. The level is proportional to the frequency difference between transmitted signal and received echoes.
Designed to simplify operator tasks by delivering ease-of-use at every touch point. The device offers an o-ring free PTFE seal solution and there is no minimal dielectric constant.
The Smart Diagnostics Suite provides early alerts for antenna build-up, weak power supply, or abnormal surface conditions. The local memory enables full insight to the last 7 days of measurements, alerts, and echo profiles. The echo curve tool functionality offers intuitive advanced troubleshooting capabilities.

The Rosemount 5408:SIS is the ideal choice for functional safety such as overfill prevention. It is safety certified SIL 2 applications according to the IEC 61508. The Rosemount 5408:SIS also supports long proof-test intervals guarantied to suit your schedule, and it can be tested remotely without any process interruption.
The product has a yellow waist for easy visual recognition.
Rosemount 5408 also meets the demands of bulk solids level measurement. FMCW technology produces a continuous echo to maximize radar signal strength and produce a more robust and reliable measurement.
The advanced surface tracking ensures that the level reading is correct. There are three antenna options; cone, parabolic or process seal which enables Rosemount 5408 to operate reliably in very demanding applications.
