Temperature measurement points on reactors are often prone to erosive catalysts due to direct exposure to high-velocity, abrasive catalyst particles within the reactor bed. These are caused by a combination of high-temperatures and high-pressures, as well as movement by solid catalyst particles causing constant mechanical wear, which can damage the temperature sensors and thermowells.
