Precision Measurement for Efficient and Safe LNG Liquefaction
Natural gas undergoes purification to remove contaminants before it is cooled to -161°C (-257°F) through refrigerant cycles within liquefaction units known as ‘trains.’ This process compresses the gas to approximately 1/600th of its original volume. The liquefied gas is stored in cryogenic containment tanks, ready for loading onto LNG carriers, making it viable for transport to distant markets. Accurate and robust measurement instrumentation is essential to monitor critical parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow throughout the liquefaction process for maintaining operational safety, maximizing energy efficiency, and ensuring consistent LNG quality for downstream distribution.
