Density & Viscosity Meters with Superior Precision

How are you measuring density & viscosity?

Density and Viscosity

Principles of Concentration Measurement

Density & viscosity meters provide robust concentration measurement of liquids and gases in the most critical applications. When measuring density, these meters use a vibrating-element principle where vibrating frequency is inversely proportional to fluid density. The viscometers measure the bandwidth of the same frequency signal as densitometers to calculate viscosity of liquids. Each density & viscosity meter is designed to optimize performance for your concentration measurement.

How It Works

Importance

Density and viscosity meters are based on a vibrating-element principle whereby vibration frequency is inversely proportional to fluid density. The viscosity meters build on this operational principle, but also measure additional frequency characteristics to determine liquid viscosity. All density and viscosity meters utilize an internal temperature measurement to account for changes in metal stiffness resulting from temperature changes.

Advantages

Density and viscosity are valuable process variables that can be used to measure product quality, perform conversions between mass and volume, optimize efficiency, identify product interfaces and much more. These measurements are needed anywhere that fluid value, quality or composition is important. In short, density and viscosity measurements help identify a fluid, determine how much of it there is and whether its makeup and measurement is correct.

Applications

Densitometers and viscometers are critical for any liquid, gas, or slurry process involving custody transfer, interface detection, blending, separating, evaporating or product change. Whether measuring crude oil density, percent concentration of a caustic cleaning solution or a sugar-water mix (degrees brix), these meters help drive revenue by delivering improved consistency, reduced waste and a positive customer perception of quality. Many processes utilize fluid density and viscosity measurements to improve productivity and throughout.
