Emerson Automation Enables A More Sustainable Future
Mike Train, Emerson Chief Sustainability Officer.
A focus on Sustainability performance has become a strategic objective for companies as they consider their impact on the world. Industrial manufacturers and energy providers are actively seeking ideas and solutions—technologies, services and practices to help them achieve their own environmental sustainability objectives. Customers are choosing their suppliers based on sustainability, employees are choosing where to invest their careers because of it, and shareholders want to know the companies they invest in are taking action while creating real and sustainable value.
For more than 30 years, I have worked with customers around the world, to demonstrate how automation can transform their business performance in the areas of production, safety, reliability and profitability. Today, those same principles and innovations - leveraging automation and data - are being applied to help companies make their businesses more sustainable.
In the sustainability world, collaborations are key, and automation has a role to play. We need industries and policymakers working together to shape how we bring innovation forward, build confidence, and deploy at scale. This Emerson site will tackle head on the key sustainability issues that are important to Emerson and our customers, including decarbonization, emissions management, electrification, circularity and energy efficiency and optimization.
It will outline the challenges our world is facing, the barriers to what is holding us all back, the role automation can play right now in the solution and highlight people already stepping up to take meaningful progress in the right direction. Most importantly, we will focus on measurable action Emerson is taking to further enhance our approach to environmental sustainability and define our role in making the world a better place for future generations to enjoy.
Meeting Net Zero by 2050 goals won’t happen overnight. It won’t be easy or simple. There are no magic recipes. However, it is my belief that it is possible and is our responsibility to figure it out together.
I hope we can find consensus that finding these solutions and leaving the world in better environmental conditions for generations to follow is a legacy worth pursuing.
Sincerely,
