Senior Vice President, Chief Technology and AI Officer

As Emerson's Chief Technology & AI Officer, Rudy Sengupta leads the company's long-term technology vision and enterprise AI strategy across its portfolio of software, automation, and intelligent devices. He partners with leaders across the business to align Emerson’s comprehensive technology and AI roadmap, advancing the emerging technologies that will deliver the greatest value for customers. He is responsible for fostering a culture of engineering excellence and customer-centric innovation across the company’s global R&D teams and defining enterprise-wide standards to ensure consistent, secure, and interoperable technology practices. A recognized advocate for the future of industrial technology, Sengupta regularly engages with customers, partners, and industry leaders on the transformative potential of AI.

Sengupta previously served as Vice President and General Manager of Test and Analytics Software at Emerson Test & Measurement (formerly NI), where he was responsible for driving differentiation and resiliency through software, AI, and recurring revenue growth. He played a key role in reshaping the business’s approach to NI software – moving from discrete offerings to holistic test workflow and data analytics solutions and spearheading the integration of AI-driven capabilities to accelerate software differentiation and establish Emerson as an industry leader in test and measurement software.

With more than 20 years of experience in the software-defined test automation space, Sengupta has held leadership positions across engineering, product strategy, corporate strategy, and operations. As Chief of Staff to the former CEO of NI, he was responsible for optimizing NI’s organizational structure, advancing performance management practices, and leading global operational excellence initiatives. He also led NI's hardware and software portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and guiding long-term investment decisions across a broad range of industries and applications.

Sengupta has deep technical expertise in embedded control, monitoring, and data acquisition technologies. He was a developer and architect of Test & Measurement's industrial automation and embedded control platform, creating FPGA-based measurement and control instrumentation as well as automation solutions for semiconductor, automotive, aerospace and defense, and oil and gas applications. As a leader within NI R&D, he directed global teams developing embedded control and monitoring (ECM) and data acquisition (DAQ) products and platforms while guiding strategic investments that expanded market reach and accelerated customer adoption.

Sengupta holds a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, with a technical focus on embedded systems and communication networks. He remains actively engaged with the university, where he serves on the Cockrell School of Engineering Advisory Board. He also supports the local Austin nonprofit community as a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America – Austin Area.
