Norway-based subsurface data company chooses AspenTech Geolog to automate subsurface workflows and accelerate upstream decision making

BEDFORD, Mass. (Oct. 6, 2026) – Global automation leader Emerson today announced Logtek AS selected AspenTech Geolog®, part of the AspenTech Subsurface Science & Engineering (SSE) portfolio, to modernize its subsurface workflows. By incorporating the software’s advanced automation and data capabilities, Logtek is better equipped to help upstream customers accelerate the discovery of new exploration & production (E&P) opportunities.

Logtek conducts quality control, data management, regulatory reporting and petrophysical analysis for many of the largest upstream operators across the Norwegian Continental Shelf, helping them interpret subsurface well data and ensure it is accurate, organized and effective for E&P decision making. After an extensive technical evaluation, Logtek chose to replace one of its legacy third-party software systems with AspenTech Geolog to better integrate with in-house developed solutions and support more automated and streamlined work processes and custom scripts. 

AspenTech Geolog will allow Logtek to deliver existing and new high-quality well log data with faster turnaround times and greater operational efficiency. With fewer reservoirs available for exploration worldwide, Logtek enables customers to accelerate new opportunity discovery through more effective analysis of existing data.

In recent years, the OSDU® Data Platform has emerged as an important open-source reference architecture for the energy industry to manage and access data. Products in the AspenTech SSE portfolio, including AspenTech Geolog, are developed in alignment with the OSDU Data Platform, ensuring greater interoperability and data management across Logtek's workflows. Logtek, together with sister company Petroware, has performed proof of concept projects with many of the largest energy companies in Norway, focused on real-world examples of how the standard is implemented to streamline data management processes, enhance collaboration and drive operational efficiency. Uniquely equipped to handle large multi-well, multi-user data sets within one project, AspenTech Geolog supports data-driven decision making and open data standards so Logtek can integrate with existing solutions to streamline project collaboration and delivery.
